Book-binding as a corporate team-building activity
Why HR leads in Bengaluru and Mumbai book us for offsites — outcomes, group sizes, timing, and what each participant takes home.
By Priya Iyer
A book-binding team-building workshop is a 2-to-3-hour facilitated session where every participant folds, stitches, and walks out with a finished hand-bound journal. We have run 64 corporate sessions since 2023 for groups of 8 to 120. The format works because stitching demands just enough focus to quiet a room full of strangers — and just little enough that people keep talking.
What actually happens in the room
- A 10-minute introduction to Coptic stitch on a printed diagram.
- Paper selection from a spread of 8 recycled stocks in 100–150gsm.
- Cover customisation — upcycled fabric squares, block-print stamps, thread colour picks.
- Guided binding in pairs, with two facilitators per 20 participants.
- Ten-minute show-and-tell where each team reads one line from their new book.
Timing, group sizes, and pricing
| Group size | Duration | Facilitators | Per-head (INR) | |---|---|---|---| | 8–15 | 2 hours | 1 | 2,400 | | 16–30 | 2.5 hours | 2 | 2,100 | | 31–60 | 2.5 hours | 3 | 1,900 | | 61–120 | 3 hours | 5 | 1,750 |
Prices include paper, thread, needles, covers, block-print inks, and a cotton gift bag per head. Delivery within Bengaluru is free; outstation travel is quoted separately.
What HR gets out of it
- Completion rate above 98%. Even participants who "are not creative" finish a book — the stitch is forgiving.
- Mixed teams mix. Because the activity needs two hands, people hand each other thread, and conversations happen that would not happen over a plated lunch.
- Takeaway with a story. The journal becomes a desk object that re-tells the offsite every morning for years.
Where we run it
We host at our Bengaluru studio (up to 24 people), travel to corporate offices across India (Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi-NCR, Pune), and set up at offsite venues in Coorg, Wayanad, Lonavala, and Alibaug. Lead time is three weeks for standard sessions and six weeks for 60+ participant events.
What past clients have booked
Razorpay, Freshworks, Swiggy Design, Zerodha, and BCG India have all booked sessions. The most common use case is a Q2 kickoff offsite for 25–40 people where leadership wants a non-digital, non-physical-exertion activity.

FAQ
How long is a corporate book-binding workshop?
Between 2 and 3 hours depending on group size, including setup and show-and-tell. The binding itself takes 75 minutes.
Can you travel to our office?
Yes. We travel anywhere in India with three weeks of lead time. Facilitators and materials come with us; you provide tables, chairs, and one 2m surface per 8 participants.
Do participants need any experience?
No. The Coptic stitch we teach at corporate sessions is a simplified 3-signature version that a complete beginner can finish in 75 minutes.
What is the minimum group size?
Eight participants. For groups of 4 to 7 we recommend a private group workshop at our Bengaluru studio instead.
